The Inter-religious Working Group on Extractive Industries thanks you for making this calendar a part of your Lenten journey. We are grateful for the work you have done over these past six weeks, and look forward to working with you in the future.

Yesterday was only the beginning of Easter. The Church will continue to celebrate the Easter Season until Sunday, May 20th, the Feast of Pentecost. During this time, we encourage you to continue your journey to deepen your relationship with every member of our God-created family.

One activity we recommend is to read Pope Francis’ eco-encyclical, Laudato Si in its entirety. Our Lenten calendar featured excerpts from the document, but the entire encyclical is beautiful and inspiring. There are six weeks from Easter Sunday to Pentecost, and there are six chapters in Laudato Si’. You may decide to read one chapter per week.

Another activity we recommend is the “Novena for Protectors of Mother Earth.” Though it was written for Lent 2017, it is still a beautiful opportunity to more deeply incorporate a care for creation into your spiritual life. Earth Day is Sunday, April 22nd this year – you may choose to pray this Novena to prepare for that celebration.
