As we saw yesterday, the Arctic Circle is very important to the Gwich’in people. They rely on it for their livelihoods and for their spiritual and cultural identity.
They’ve been fighting for decades to keep oil drilling out of the Artic; but at the end of 2017, Congress passed tax reform that allowed for the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to be opened to oil drilling.
We encourage you to join the faith community and sign this petition urging Congress to reverse their decision, and instead to protect this important natural sanctuary and the Gwich’in people by not allowing drilling in the Artic.
